The Company
Our client is a leading cable producer in the United Arab Emirates with a major market share in the Middle East.

Position und Aufgabenschwerpunkte:

Job Objective
The Chief Engineer provides up to date expertise on all high voltage related engineering matters, design, manufacturing, installation and operation to assist in the strategic development of the companies HV business.
He leads and represent the company´s HV in all engineering issues both internally and externally to ensure that the company meets or exceeds all internal and customer specifications and to promote the technical competence of the business to the customers.
He develops products and processes to make most effective use of the company assets and he interfaces with the Technical Department and participates as part of the Group technical management team under the leadership to ensure overall effectiveness and best practices.
Key Performance Areas
• To set the internal technical standards of the products and take overall responsibility for the quality of all products that are released for sale.
• To provide technical support to all sales activities and ensure that the technical component of quotations is technically sound and compliant.
• To propose, establish, motivate, participate in and lead (as appropriate) new product and service development initiatives, in pursuit of the company’s longer term objectives.
• To co-ordinate technical collaboration with strategic partners.
• To represent the company at external meetings/seminars to support our brand position.
• To develop the human resources within the Department by promulgating excellence in management practices and provision of professional feedback with particular emphasis on developing local national employees.
• To drive and challenge the service levels offered by the Department to its customers.
• Prepare business plans, capital expenditure applications, annual budgets and management reports for review by the CEO.
• To actively participate in the formulation of an overall strategy for the Company by applying sound entrepreneurial and commercial practices.


Technical knowledge
Advanced knowledge of the design, development and testing of HV Cable Systems in the range 60kV to 400kV, Polymer expertise, Statistical techniques, Diagnostic Testing techniques
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor degree in Engineering preferably electrical or similar with recognized professional status (such as Chartered Engineer) and a relevant post graduate qualification, such as an M.Sc or MBA.
• In depth knowledge of the design development and testing of high voltage cables and systems gained from relevant and responsible experience of 8 years or more experience in cables of which at least 5 years should be in cable systems above 60kV and must include experience at 400kV.
• Must be capable of leading, developing and motivating a highly professional and diverse team subject to general guidance and overall Company/Board policy.
• Fluency in English (both written and spoken) obligatory, multilingual is an advantage, Arabic preferred.
